Strategic geography

A compact country at the meeting of Europe, the Middle East and Eurasia, with growing air and digital connectivity.

Technical workforce

A highly educated population with particular depth in mathematics, physics, engineering and software.

Scientific heritage

A long tradition of exact sciences and engineering culture that can be built into new institutions.

Global diaspora

A worldwide Armenian professional network spanning science, capital, industry and public service.

Technology ecosystem

A growing base of engineering companies, research groups and international collaborations.

Operating environment

The ability to stand up new campus-scale institutions with competitive cost structures.

First principles

Room to design governance, facilities and programs without inheriting a century of institutional friction.

National importance

A project that can sit at the center of Armenia's long-term scientific and economic strategy.

Science at the scale of energy infrastructure.

Advanced AI infrastructure requires extraordinary quantities of reliable energy.

Phase 1 AI Factory planning takes firm power from the Armenian grid, of which Metsamor Unit 2 is the operating nuclear plant (416 MWe, World Nuclear Association, July 2026). Armenia has chosen a small modular reactor as Metsamor’s replacement type, with vendor selection expected in 2026–2027 and Metsamor’s current extension running to 2036.
